Across the country, Christmas lights are being turned on to the sound of 90s popstars and markets have popped up in our high streets. I was fortunate enough to be in Manchester this weekend as the Christmas markets opened, wandering the streets, trying cheese and listening to buskers. Essentially the festive period is now in full swing and we couldn’t be more excited!
I am sure you can hear the familiar sound of a family member saying ”Christmas starts earlier and earlier each year” and maybe they are right, it does seem fairly early for Christmas to be starting - but it doesn’t mean you can’t make the most of it. If you too want to head out and get into the festive spirit, there are Christmas markets up and down the country. Here are some of our favourites:
Manchester Christmas markets have kicked off the Christmas season by already opening and finishes on the 20th of December. The markets in Manchester are stretched across most of the city centre, so you can wander around for hours!
If you’re even further up north, Edinburgh Christmas markets start this weekend! (17th November) and continue all the way into January 7th 2018. If you do get the opportunity to go up to Scotland for Hogmanay this NYE, make sure you pick up a party dress!
If you’re looking to go to a historical city to make the Christmas market experience even more special, why not head to Exeter (Nov16 -December 17) or Bath (23rd Nov -10th December)?
Fancy something a little different? In Worcester, the stall owners up dress up in Victorian Clothing for the Fayre to celebrate it’s 25th year (20th Nov - 3rd December) or you could follow the York Ice Trail around the city between the 16th November - 22nd December.
If you’re looking for something more traditional why not try head to Ludlow Castle (25-26th November) for a medieval experience? The city of Warwick are celebrating a Victorian evening on the 30th of November and of course, you can also head to the capital and go to the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.
You might be out to the treat yourself to a cheeky liqueur hot chocolate, pick up a few rolls of flavoured cheese or out to support your local boutiques, make sure you are wrapped up warm out there.
There are markets of all sizes across the country, make sure you get the chance to visit one, even if just for a tipple!
At Fashiola, we’ve been preparing for the festive period for a few weeks now - so the Christmas songs started long ago - but we’re making sure there are a great selection of presents and deals available for you! Here is what is on our wishlist
If you’re someone who is super organised, and already know what you’re getting friends, family or treating yourself to this Christmas, make the most of the upcoming Black Friday sales starting on November 24th and all weekend.
