A lot of people prefer to avoid mixing bright colours but we have something to tell you: these mix and match combinations are here to stay!
When it comes to colours we are normally drawn to those that match and tend to stay away from those that we think will clash when we combine them. And although a lot of people prefer to avoid mixing bright colours we love the latest trend for this summer 2022 which is called colour-blocking. If you need a little help with colour choice or just reassurance of what colours look good together we’re here to help and serve as inspiration.
How to colour-block?
First of all you have to keep in mind that no colour belongs to any season. This will take you some experimenting until you find combinations of colours that you love and that complement you. This trend is also a great alternative to neutral colours but it can aways be an extra to boring outfits. This summer we are demanding to be seen and colour-blocking is the perfect trend for this.
Fashiola’s TIP: the colour wheel must be your best friend! It shows at glance what colours can be used togethe since colours that are on the opposite side of each other are complementary, so when you mix them the result will be a high-contrast combination that will be popping!
Yellow + purple
We love this combination! Also, if you are not comfortable enough yet with wearing a full outfit with these colours, you can always start by combining the accessories first. This is a very summery mix and we are sure we’ll be seeing a lot of these two colours together this season!
Green + blue
From what we have seen this is the preferred combination by the celebs! There is something about these two colours that makes the combination elegant and appropriate for many occasions. We recommend a blue purse or a green pair of heels to start building off the look.
Pink + orange
This one is for sure one of our favourite combinations for the summer season! These colours scream summer holidays but mixed together they look even better. Make sure you find some bold orange sandals or a pink beach bag to finish off the look and you’re good to go!
