When talking about colour, we can't look any further for the best advice, we have to go straight to the expert source - Pantone. The Pantone colour of the year for 2018 was vividly named Ultra Violet and it definitely made its mark on the fashion scene, so we cannot wait to see what shades will be working the runways and streets for 2019.
So, what’s Pantone's colour of the year for 2019?
2019 is all about "Living Coral"
Living Coral is a reflection of the positive energy stream moving us forward in 2019, a colour that promises to bring with it ‘nourishment, comfort and familiarity that makes us feel good.’ …
Living Coral is less bold in comparison to the 2018 Ultra Violet vibe, yet still emanates brightness and presence. Living Coral is explained as a saturated orange base with a golden undertone - and is an apparent response to a year minus millennial pink.
I definitely believe colour can reflect humanizing qualities and couldn't be more excited about the Patone colour of the year, afterall, Living Coral (well, coral actually) is my fave colour! You can count on me rocking some living coral accessories, scribbling in my coral notebook or sipping H2O from my coral hue water bottle, however, it's not as simple to get your hands on fashion in quite the same tone (cue: Acne's signature colour spectrum). But let me warn you in advance, when I am looking for spring colours & summer colours for content early next year - Living Coral will be all over my style guides and trends!
Now we have our go to spring & summer colour in the bag with Living Coral, we should also take a look at the other colour-palettes Pantone have recently released for some current day inspo.
With a whopping 200 hues, this colour palette has been inspired by the millennial fascination with all things tech and shiny. Funnily enough, this is a trend which fashion has had a grasp on for some time now as metallic shoes have featured in #ootd from influencers worldwide. What I most, is that metallics are no longer reserved to just gold and silver hues, but we now see a hint sheen in darker tones like navy, brown and green.

The Pantone Predictions for SS'19
Pantone’s teams come together every year to look closely at which colour trends are popular in fashion shows - what were their thoughts for SS19? As soon as Spring hits we’ll be served around 12 stand out colors, reflecting our desires to be bold as we face the future. Check out Pantone’s full report here.
My personal guess for summer colour trends are Pepper Stem and sickly-smoothie green, blended into intricate patterns. You heard it here first, keep an eye out for this refreshing splash of green on the runways.
